Go3 is Trafford’s physical activity campaign to get the entire borough’s residents young and old, doing some form of activity 3 times a week or more.

We hope to do this by providing you with all the knowledge, information and opportunities you need to do this…

The website has a database of information with all kinds of activity types, with the usual things you’d expect but also things such as archery, cheerleading and wall climbing to name a few.

If you’re not sure of what activity you’d like to try check out the website and have a look through the activity list for inspiration. There are things there that you might not have considered.

The Go3 campaign is run by Trafford Leisure Trust and is supported by Trafford Primary Care Trust.

Books on Prescription is a way of getting access to a variety of self help books that have been recommended by specialists as being of benefit to some people with psychological problems. The way it works is that your GP (or other professional such as a psychologist or counsellor) would issue you with a prescription for an appropriate book from a list that they have. You then take this prescription to one of the participating libraries who would then exchange it for the book which you can normally keep for between 6-8 weeks (you can extend that if you need to). There are no fines if you return the book late.

The Respect phoneline 0845 122 8609 is a helpline offering information and advice to people who are abusive towards their partners and want help to stop.

Help for people who are abusive towards their partners including women and are abusive towards their male partners and from abusive Gay men and Lesbians.

The majority of people who call our service are men in heterosexual relationships. These are men who realise that they are abusive and they are looking for help to stop. We will talk through their options, advise on short-term strategies to manage the risk they pose to their partner/children and help them access specialist, long term help.

We welcome calls from women who suffer domestic violence and are for help on behalf of their partner. We welcome those calls as an opportunity to encourage women to access specialist support for themsleves but also to explain to them what help might be available for their partner.

Venture Arts is unique in the North-West. Since 1985 it has been providing a bright, lively and welcoming environment for people with learning disabilities from across Manchester to produce quality artwork.

Providing 20 workshops a week from our studio in Hulme, Venture Arts enables adults with learning disabilities to produce a wide variety of visual arts, including photography, animation, prints, etching, textile work, embroidery, ceramics, jewellery and 3D work, all taught by professional artist tutors.

Every year the work is exhibited at high profile venues in the North-West, including The Lowry, Manchester Art Gallery and People’s History Museum.

We also deliver outreach projects. This year some of our participants passed on their artistic skills to children at local schools. The resulting work was exhibited at Zion Arts Centre.
