Many people, perhaps even the majority, develop emotional or psychological difficulties at some time in their lives. One in 6 people will have a mental health problem within the course of a year.
blueSCI is a not-for-profit organisation based on Seymour Grove in Old Trafford. It promotes wellbeing through social engagement and creative opportunities. blueSCI works with individuals to achieve their goals and aspirations, promoting recovery, self-management and social inclusion in partnership with other agencies and mainstream organisations.

Craft Days in August

There will be three craft days offered during August at blueSCI to inspire those who would like to get their creative juices flowing! The craft days will be facilitated by blueSCI Arts Co-ordinator Avril Clarke and will take place from 10am-3pm on the following dates:
Paper Making - Monday 11th August
Junk Art (Sculpting) - Monday 18th August
Altered Art (Mixed Techniques) -Thurs 21st Aug

Womens Art Group

There will be a women's Art Group starting on Wednesday 13th August 10am-12pm at blueSCI (Old Trafford service). The group will be run by volunteer Lynne Morgan and will be an opportunity for women to be creative and try different art styles.

blueSCI Staff have Away Day!
blueSCI staff recently had a development day at the tulip hotel near the Trafford Centre. The day consisted of team games and activities and provided an opportunity to ask questions and find out more about the future plans for blueSCI. The day was facilitated by directors Stuart Webster and Alicia Clare and included a slide show and feedback session.
Gig at Moorside Unit

Music Studio members perform gig!
Members of blueSCI Seed Studios performed a gig at Trafford General Moorside unit recently to help celebrate 60 years of the NHS. The gig was organised by Support Time and Recovery Workers from the unit and proved to be a roaring success. Everyone involved enjoyed the event.
Paul said "It was great to see so many seed studio members having the chance to perform live, and enjoy themselves".

New Complementary Therapist at blueSCI

Holistic Rose is delivering therapies at blueSCI.
Complementary Therapist Rose Nialand is offering a range of different therapies at blueSCI starting Thursday 21st August. Rose will be delivering Swedish Massage, Facial Massage, Aromatherapy, Reflexology (Hands and feet), Reiki and Indian Head Massage. Rose will be here 9am-2pm and 4pm-7pm every Thursday. Therapies have a standard cost of £5 for half an hour or £10 for an hour.

Family Activity Day at Community Allotment

Community Allotment Hosts Family Activity Day
Old Trafford Community Allotment members are involved in a year long exciting programme with the Imperial War Museum called 'Dig for Victory'
There was a Family Activity Day to showcase the allotment on Saturday 9th August. It included a look at the types of foods that would have been grown during the second world war and a wartime quiz. There was also the launch of a bench in memory of blueSCI service user Ken Roach who passed away last year.
1940's Food Tasting Session

1940's food was very tasty!
There was a 1940's food tasting session at the community allotment at Warwick Court (Off Kings Road, Old Trafford) on Thursday 7th August.
Everyone who attended enjoyed sampling homemade cakes made with authenic wartime ingredients. The group had the opportunity to learn about rationing during the war and the look at genuine artefacts from the period - including a tin of powdered eggs!
Informal Singing Group For All
blueSCI volunteer Niall Gigha is leading an informal singing group for all. The group will be an opportunity to sing a range of popular songs and sing in harmony with others. Niall will help participants to find their singing range, learn warm-up techniques and strengthen vocal cords. Everyone is welcome - no experience necessary.
The group starts on Friday 22nd August 10am-12pm and will be ongoing.

Reiki Level 1 Training Weekend

Would you like to learn how to do Reiki?
There will be a Reiki Level 1 Training weekend at blueSCI (Old Trafford service) for people who would like to take the first step to becoming a Reiki practitioner.The cost of the weekend is £65 and will take place on the following dates:
