Theatre Of The Senses is a not for profit company. It was founded in Manchester in 2011 by Shaun O’Brien and Tamra O’Brien. We are based in Trafford. Our mission is to bring theatre to a wide audience. We also produce an extensive educational program. The company has embraced the idea of the multi-sensory experience, and placed great importance on all 5 senses, through lighting, sound, taste, smells and touch.
Shaun O’Brien is Artistic Director BA (Hons). His acting career spans over fifteen years and boasts a vast body of work in small scale touring with Point Blank , New Vic Theatre, Gazebo Theatre in Education, and One in 4 Theatre Company,
Doncaster Arts Reflex Theater Company, and Walsall Community Arts.
He has also built a reputation as a dramatic Practioner he is responsible for all production management , tour programming, and day to day running of the company. He has directed over 40 new productions for theatres, schools, village halls and community centers and prisons, he has lectured for a number of Universities and Colleges.
Tamra O’Brien is resident actor and writer within the company
She was born in the heart of Manchester. She studied HND theater at Tameside College her credits include an Artaudian production of Macbeth , other credits are Marat Sade , Fire raisers, Grease and Blood Wedding. She has written and directed a number of multi media performances and appeared in several films. She has also worked in community theatre.
Short History
Productions include Macbeth, Jack and the Beanstalk, Romeo and Juliet, The Alternative Frog Prince, The Harlets Curse , Jonh Lennon Story. Cast members are from all over South Manchester, from various cultural backgrounds and of all age groups. We pride ourselves on being a community orientated group, Theatre of the senses is a force for change in theatre, breaking down barriers, challenging preconceptions and actively placing disabled and disadvantaged artists on stage.
